Here is a new set of Trio rings. Please check out my other Trio ring sets. Each one is beautiful in its own way. In this listing the featured stone is rare and can only be found in Honshu, Japan. It is called ‘Sakura Ishi’ in Japanese, which means ‘Cherry Blossom stone’. I have named this set ‘Sakura ICHI’ because there is ONE Sakura stone for this set.

The cross-section of the Sakura Ishi resembles the Sakura flower, hence, its name as told. The stone is actually a Mica specimen but it did not form from Mica. It underwent a process called pseudomorphosis.

The original crystals of this stone were Cordierite and Indialite which inter-grew with one and other in a complex manner. Due to the environment they were in, they underwent pseudomorphism where they were completely replaced by Mica but their external crystalline structures were preserved.

The centre of the stone used to be Indialite and the ‘petals’ of the stone used to be Cordierite. This particular specimen is quite petite and you can only see the petals. I have another set of Trio rings called ‘Sakura Ni’ and one of the stones is slightly bigger and has the Indialite centre. Feel free to check that listing out.

Since the stone is soft and crumbly, it cannot be used in jewelry in its original state. I have set the stone in epoxy resin mixed with a little sprinkle of gold dust and magic sparkles. It is now durable to be mounted onto a ring.

The rings are all made of sterling silver. The design is a minimalist design. The rings are filed at random angles to create an uneven geometric finish.
