This Small Wonder pendant features two wonderful crystals in their natural forms. Sitting right under the handmade bail is a small crystal-clear Herkimer Diamond and hanging freely below it, a Besednice Moldavite!

The Herkimer Diamond is actually a type of double-terminated Quartz crystal which owes its name to its place of origin, Herkimer County in New York, the USA. It is called “diamond” because it is often clearer than normal Quartz and displays a natural faceting pattern. It is a high vibrational crystal. On its own, it cleanses and energizes our third eye and crown chakras. When paired with another crystal, the Herkimer Diamond intensifies the properties of the other crystal.

Moldavite is a type of Tektite. Tektite is natural glass formed by the melting and cooling of Silica sand or rock ejected into the atmosphere after a meteorite impact. Moldavites were formed in the strewn field of a meteorite impact at Nördlinger Ries in Germany around 15 million years ago. Besednice Moldavites are rare and much sought-after because of their hedgehog pattern.

This beautiful piece comes from Besednice, in the South Bohemian Region of the Czech Republic. You can clearly see the hedgehog (Ježkovna) pattern. It is slightly curved like a leaf.

Moldavite is also a high vibrational crystal. It connects to the heart chakra and helps us to control our emotions and to remain calm and collected.

Moldavites are often paired with Herkimer Diamonds. I seized the opportunity to pair them up and named them “Moldimer”.

The bail and frames for these crystals are all handmade using sterling silver wires. In designing this pendant, I inter-played space with form, while maintaining focus on the crystals. When you look at the pendant, you see the Herkimer Diamond and the Besednice Moldavite together but also separately. One doesn’t crowd on the other.
