Here is a piece of ceramic that I found washed up on a beach. Although it doesn’t exactly have a white background, I like to think that it once was white, but had aged through time or had been affected by the seawater.

I am draw to pieces of blue and white ceramic. I can’t help but imagine how it looked like when it was a full pottery, when it was made or used and where it had come from.

Since I found this piece of pottery on a beach on Penang island, my assumption is that it could have come from one of many Chinese junks that had sunk in the sea thousands of years ago.

It is well known that the Strait of Malacca was a busy route for traders and Penang was one of the four original individual settlements collectively called the ‘Straits Settlements’.

I have built up a sizeable collection of these old pottery pieces and I like to name this collection “BLEU BLANC”.

The wrap around the pottery piece is minimalist. The band, however, is fancy and freestyle.

I joined two 16 gauge round wires at random places and attached round sterling silver balls in varying sizes around the band. This makes the ring band different and interesting.
