I call this ring “Bubblegum” for the simplest reason – that plump, glossy purple Chalcedony reminded me of a piece of bubblegum.

This Chalcedony piece is is clean, with no visible fissures. It’s smooth, translucent and softly luminous, with a wonderful lavender-purple color that seems to shift slightly with the light.

I set it simply in sterling silver, giving the Chalcedony plenty of room to be itself. Instead of a conventional round band, I made the ring square – a small geometric counterpoint to all those soft curves. I like the contrast – oval against square, softness against structure, a playful stone held within clean silver lines.

Sometimes a beautiful stone, a little silver and a slightly unexpected shape are quite enough.
