In Chrysalis of Light, I am interested in the condition of becoming – where form is neither closed nor resolved. It examines states of transition through spatial containment and material dialogue.

The silver framework adopts an open organic structure, a system that contains without sealing and allows light to participate in the work. The Ammolite acts as a temporal material for me, its shifting colors resists fixity and responds continuously to movement and viewing angle. Its iridescence, activated by movement and light, introduces an unstable and temporal variation into an otherwise fixed form.

The use of 24K Gold, applied through keum boo, is deliberately restrained. It operates instead as a material intervention that marks moments of interruption – tension and growth emerging from within the composition.

Negative space is regarded here as a generative force, enabling light to articulate the work and implicating the surrounding environment in its activation.

I approach this piece as a sculptural object that engages the body as a site of display. It operates at the intersection of object, body and light, emphasizing transition, permeability and suspended change.
