This mixed media ring features a lovely ice jadeite from Myanmar. It forms part of the sea and sky horizon ‘painting’.

Jadeite is one of 2 types of jade, the other being Nephrite. Transvaal jade or African jade is not truly jade but a green Grossularite. Jadeite has a wide range of colors from green, yellow, blue, lavender, red brown, grey, black to white.

When the jadeite has a light green color and is translucent, it is called ‘ice jade’. The stone featured in this ring is an ice jadeite and it comes from Myanmar. It is a Grade A jadeite. This means it is 100% natural and has not been treated with any chemical or heat or dyed with any color dye.

Jadeite has always been revered in Asia, especially by the Chinese culture. It is still treated with high regard as a stone of luck, success and prosperity.

I personally love Jadeite, particularly the green ones, not for those reasons but its ability to calm my emotions so that i can handle situations in a better manner. It works wonderfully on my heart chakra. Another thing about Grade A jadeite pieces, which I love, is that their color can deepen slightly after wearing them for a day. So at the end of the day, when I remove my jadeite jewelry and observe them, they all look beautiful and lively.

The ‘painting’ of the sky and sea horizon is made entirely from premium quality polymer clay. The colors of the clay are carefully chosen to enhance the color of the ice jade. The ice jade sits in an open-back frame made of sterling silver. It is intentionally elevated from the ‘painting’ so that it can be seen together with the ‘painting’. The frame of the ‘painting’ and the ring band is made of sterling silver.
